Werewolves is a 2024 Action Horror Movie directed by Steven C. Miller and written by Matthew Kennedy, Josh Miller, and John Whittington. The film stars Frank Grillo, Katrina Law, and Ilfenesh Hadera with a runtime of 1 hour and 34 minutes, and will be released on December 6, 2024.

What if the entire population transformed into werewolves—temporarily, you know, for one night only? Picture the bizarre sight, people running around, screaming, and desperately clinging to life as the entire globe turns upside down due to the largest moon ever seen. That is the raw concept of Werewolves, an action thriller film that will bring you quite the mixture of drama, horror, and mystery.

In Werewolves, the setting is one year after the disastrous SuperMoon event that occurred in the first issue. The statement indicates that on that particular night humans; possessed a werewolf gene and they transformed into one anytime they came across the moonlight. The result? Suffering, with close to a billion people having lost their lives. Now, as another supermoon rises on the horizon, the people wait for what might be due next. Steel that is forged through the nightmares and lessons of the survivors captured in the first part is directed by Steven C. Miller, the second part of the film conveys raw terror and realistic tendencies of survival across people striving for the second time.

The movie is as exciting as one would assume it to be, easily shifting from suspense to action sequences. Just think about A Quiet Place’s tension and The Purge’s chaos. The hours seem to tick like seconds, with edge-of-your-seat car pursuits and a mounting dread. However, the show also remains engaging because people struggle with fear, guilt, and hope despite such circumstances.

The imagery is spectacular, particularly the transformation scenes as well as a rather picturesque yet menacing supermoon. The movie is well directed by Steven C. Miller and the actors are good enough to make one feel for them. However, one can get the impression that the narrative is somewhat rushed at times, which could be why some characters are not as fleshed out as they ought to be. One aspect that some viewers may find somewhat wanting here, however, is that at 94 minutes it could have used a little bit more of a substance to contrast with the rather heavy predictive action.

This one is for the lovers of survival thriller movies with a touch of supernatural element. It is a hybrid of World War Z and Underworld, very paced with thrilling moments to make you hold your seat tightly. Described as a horror/drama/mystery game, Werewolves is a great way to kick-start the Halloween spirit.
