Love Bomb is a 2024 Thriller Movie directed by David Guglielmo and written by Kathy Charles. The film stars Jessie Andrews, Sienna Hubert-Ross, and Zane Holtz, with a runtime of 1 hour 37 minutes, theatre released on November 08, 2024.

Have you ever wondered what could happen when three strangers meet through a dating app? That’s exactly what Love Bomb dives into—an indie thriller that takes the world of online dating to dark and twisted extremes. In this movie, directed by David Guglielmo, an innocent-looking hookup app becomes a gateway for reckless choices, dangerous encounters, and a deadly game of deception.

The story focuses on a man named Josh, portrayed by Josh Caras, who returns home late one night and is confronted by his wife, Anna, played by Jessie Andrews. But he’s not as innocent as he seems; and just when the audience thinks that Josh is harmless, he reveals that he has been cheating. Unexpectedly, the woman, Anna, does not look angry. She simply responds that she wants to make him happier than any other woman can make him. Things take a wild turn from there: In the morning, following a night of passion, Anna’s real husband, Tom (Zane Holtz), also arrives at the hotel. Tom is also holding a gun on Josh while Josh notices that Anna has chloroform for making people unconscious and hits Josh with it. The shocking twist? All three of these people are strangers to each other in real life! All these characters are anonymous to each other, but they are all entangled in some deadly game of lies, conspiracies, and murders which turns out to be much more dangerous than they anticipated.

Still, the most striking aspect of Love Bomb is the characters and how the actors succeed in embodying them. Still, the characters are so real, they have their own personalities, individual features, and even unexpected qualities that make the story much more interesting. It constantly shifts the focus back and forth between the real setting and the fabricated scenario under which the characters operate, to fully present them as actors.

More specifically, this form and structure of storytelling assist us in filling in the gaps in the overall narrative or the overarching mystery. Jessie Andrews, the actress portraying Anna, pulls off the so-called ‘femme fatale’ role well by luring people into dangerous situations while both Josh Caras and Zane Holtz contribute humor and charm to their characters, which sometimes involve landing in awkward or challenging positions.

For a film with such a tightly knitted and tensed story, the movie solely depends on the script and the performances of the actors. Although this may seem quite elementary, for more obscure movies like this one, both acting and the script are even more important as there are no massive action scenes or impressive effects to rely on. Love Bomb does this well.”

The dialogues are so well written by Kathy Charles that they can be taken to another level by various performances that highlight each character’s nature. It also saves faces and keeps things visually dynamic in a way that contributes to the suspense and the comedy in ways that the viewer may not anticipate.

I expected Love Bomb to be somewhat serious because its premise involves a woman who stops a mass shooting but was happily surprised at how comedic it was. Even though the focus of the story lies in the world of thriller and suspense, there are numerous witty jokes and sight gags in the movie. The actors are enjoying their characters as it is creating some sort of theatrical performance which is good and refreshing. That is something funny, tense, and shocking, making it stand out from other indie-thriller productions.

The only drawback? All in all, the movie gives the perception of having a wrap-up a little too early. The movie is approximately 85 minutes long, and while it is good, it feels like it could have used an additional 15-20 minutes, particularly toward the climax, to make the cat-and-mouse game the characters are playing even more intense. Perhaps, slightly extending this amount of time could provide the story with a better opportunity to deliver a more satisfying conclusion. Nonetheless, it is an entertaining and engaging movie that will not leave any audience member bored right up to the end as the lines and actions of the actors can make it worth watching.

Bottom Line: Love Bomb is a remarkable indie film that blends comedy with the thriller and remains unpredictable throughout. The script is polished, the cast is perfect, and it’s a roller-coaster, folks. If you are a fan of thrillers that do not fit the standard schemes and are not overly dramatic – this film could be a perfect option!
