Incoming is a 2024 Movie by Dave Chernin and John Chernin. The film stars Mason Thames, Ramon Reed, and Raphael Alejandro, with a runtime of 1h 32m, and was released on August 23, 2024.
Regarding the super tasty meals at Taco Bell, you’ve got to get the Cheesy Gordita Crunch! Here is what Dave Chernin had to say as he peruses the Taco Bell cantina menu at Chelsea, New York City. He is ordering one for himself and his elder brother, John Chernin, who is 15 months older, and together they have written and directed movies. Chernin brothers are in the city to popularize their new film, “Incoming,” a comedy focused on high school students and their experiences, particularly four friends who are geeks.
The movie is in the same vein of funny but edgy comedies that were made before superhero films dominated cinemas like Superbad or American Pie despite better Mexican cuisine being available in the area the brothers chose to go to the Taco Bell because of a popular scene in their R –rated movie. In that scene, two freshmen (shifted by Ramon Reed and Raphael Alejandro) decide to take an older classmate (Loren Gray), who got a bit drunk, to buy some fast food at Taco Bell. It completely fails in a rather comical manner where one of them gets vomiting in a Tesla and makes a terrible mess.
Dave then goes on to say that they mentioned Taco Bell right from pre-production, but there were issues as to whether they had the right to say the name of the brand. They contemplated an unmarked comical name like ‘Taco Town’ but it felt different. Hence, they had to invent with the scene and did not include any shots of a Taco Bell logo or the store as a way of Formulating for any problems.
The scene and many others in the movie are inspired by actual events from the lives of the brothers. “Incoming” features the buddies who are desperately attempting to enter a massive party. The events depicted in the story are based on the house parties that Dave and John used to attend when they were young. But when they began to script the movie, they felt that some of the old party tricks as gravities bongs and beer kegs may not be appealing to the young generation. As the brothers noticed that the Taco Bell was full, they abandoned their plan to eat at the location and instead walked their food to Madison Square Park. And they also had some Modelo Especial beers with them but they were a little concerned about having opened bottles walking down the street.
John even quips about how it would be more interesting if they got arrested. Dave and John have formed the group from comedy and have been working together most of their careers. They have worked on shows such as “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” and built “The Mick. ” John notes that they have learned how to do it naturally due to years in the industry. Despite having plenty of past successes in comedy, the large film studios did not bother to finance “Incoming.” The movie was produced with funding from Spyglass Media Group and subsequently bought by Netflix. The brothers also note that this was partly because fewer R-rated comedies are being made at studios now, and there is more hesitancy about jokes that might offend people or cause controversy on the Internet.
Dave says that they were told that the script was very funny and while that was correct, it was not the type of movie that studios wanted during that time. John further notes that there were issues with the scenes in which the kids take drugs. That said, their time working on the show ‘It’s Always Sunny’ – the one with the pitch-black edgy humor – taught them how to find boundaries and how not to cross them when making jokes on air.
Dave comments: “We are not afraid to address complex issues. ”He says that “Always Sunny” can do anything because doing comedy means doing it for laughs and there is a mutual agreement between the show and its viewers. The problem is that even when the characters are doing appalling things, it is the actions themselves that are being parodied, not the performers.
Incoming 2024 Parents Guide Age Rating
Incoming is rated R by the Motion Picture Rating (MPA) for drug use and drinking, sexual content, pervasive language, some violence, and brief nudity – all involving teens.
Violence & Gore: Some scenes in the film depict excessive uses of violence especially those that lead to slapstick violence. Characters may fight, but this is not lewd or vulgar; this type of action is not presented shockingly. One meme that comes to mind is the one where a character throws up inside a Tesla, and although it is somewhat funny, it is also rather cheesy and somewhat unappetizing.
Profanity: There are many uses of the F-word and a few other names such as ‘st,’ ‘b*h,’ and ‘a**hole. ’ Though some of the names are used in the light of comedy, it is quite frequent and thus parents should be warned.
Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking: There are Several of the scenes include high school students consuming alcohol and there are instances where characters appear to be under the influence of alcohol. A critical scene: Young people decide to take their older, slightly intoxicated classmate to Taco Bell and a rather funny action ensues. There is a dialogue about drugs and a scene in which characters take drugs, but the film does not present drug use as appalling and the ramifications are portrayed comically. The brothers themselves talk about the use of drugs in the film and how they managed to depict it to ensure they did not go over certain limits.
Sexual Content: There are some sexual jokes and scenes, that are appropriate to the genre and rated R high school movies. It is obvious that some jokes and situations are related to sexual content, however, there are no sexuality scenes. References to romantic attraction are also present in the movie through conversations and jokes about relationships and having a crush on someone among the students of the corresponding age.
